ClariVein® Procedures for Varicose Veins in Cape Cod
The ClariVein procedure is one of today’s most-innovative methods for treating varicose veins. And Southeastern Vascular was proud to add this procedure as a minimally invasive treatment option for our patients.
Southeastern Vascular was the first practice in Massachusetts to perform a ClariVein procedure.
How the ClariVein Procedure Works
Like other newer treatments for treating varicose veins, The ClariVein Procedure involves entering the varicose vein with a catheter-like device. Once inside the vein, traditional methods use various forms of thermal energy (heat) to destroy the vein.
The ClariVein Procedure, however, does not use heat, but instead uses a small rotating wire to injure the lining (inside) of the vein, causing that vein to collapse. A sclerosant medication is also delivered at the same time to assist in collapsing the vein and sealing it shut. Adjacent veins take over the task of delivering blood back to the heart.
Minimally Invasive with Minimal Discomfort
While this procedure may sound a bit eerie, rest assured that our patients have found it to be just the opposite. The benefits:
- Some patients experience a tickling sensation
- Everything done in a procedural room
- Light sedation or local anesthesia only
- No perceptible cuts
- No need to remove the vein
- Minimal pain or discomfort
- Same-morning discharge
