Micro-Needling Skin Repair in Cape Cod
Okay, so you have scars. Maybe some wrinkling. Or you simply want to improve your skin texture in a few areas. Micro-needling skin repair is the solution. You’ll find it here at Southeastern Vascular. Best of all, it’s a non-surgical answer to many skin-texture problems. Micro-needling repairs the following skin conditions:
- Mild to moderate acne scarring
- Surgical scarring
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Stretch marks
- Pore size and skin texture
- Keloid scarring
- Brown spots from aging and the sun
What Is Micro-Needling?
First of all, it’s not something trending. (Okay, maybe a little.) Micro-needling is a medical device used for the purpose of breaking down old scar tissue and stimulating skin cells for proliferation. This multiplication results in the creation of new tissue layers of elastin and collagen fibers, as well as improved blood supply.
Here’s How Micro-Needling Works
At Southeastern Vascular we employ an Eclipse MicroPen® featuring a sterile needle-tip that contains 12 tiny micro-needles. These 12 micro-needles literally create controlled micro-injuries to the skin. The device glides gently along the skin, penetrating the layers of the skin closest to the surface at a depth of up to 2mm to create numerous tiny needle wounds. These tiny “wounds” trigger the skin’s repair process to naturally produce collagen and elastin. As the skin responds, it plumps and thickens, reducing the appearance of scars, wrinkles and fine lines.
At this time the skin is also highly receptive to topical products. Choices include collagen-stimulating hyaluronic acid, Growth Factor serum, a skin lightener for pigmentation, and platelet rich plasma (PRP) that, when used for rejuvenation, releases growth factors into the skin to expedite the body’s own repair process. Some benefits include:
- No anesthesia or medications necessary
- Performed under clinical conditions, so the likelihood of infection is extremely low
- Within several days to weeks you’ll notice a smoother, brighter, more-radiant appearance
- The full effects of the treatment do not appear until several months later
- Safe and effective for all types and colors of skin
- More than 150,000 successful procedures performed worldwide
What to Expect After a Micro-Needling Procedure
The skin will be red and flushed, similar to a mild-to-moderate sunburn, for 12 hours to three days. You may also experience mild swelling, tightness, and/or mild peeling. Side effects are temporary and typically resolve within three days. Total healing time depends on the depth of the treatment, skin type, and skin condition — some patients may heal completely in 24-hours. Visible improvement will take about two to four weeks and can continue for up to six months. A series of three to six treatments spaced four to six weeks apart is ideal for optimal results.
