Venefit
The Venefit™ Procedure to Treat Varicose Veins
At Southeastern Vein Specialists here in Cape Cod, we like to talk about the array of minimally invasive treatment options available to those who suffer with varicose veins. Among those options is the Venefit™ procedure, formally known as Venous Closure. Like other contemporary procedures performed by Southeastern Vein Specialists, the Venefit procedure excels at “shutting down” a varicose vein, allowing blood to naturally find another route through adjacent, healthier veins.
Uses Heat to “Shut Down” the Varicose Vein
Venefit takes advantage of a procedure that uses heat generated using radio-frequency energy. The heat is delivered through a catheter, which then destroys the lining of the vein. As a result, the collagen found in the vein shrinks, causing the vein to close.
A combination of diluted lidocaine and diluted saline is injected into the area being treated to numb the area and protect surrounding tissue and nerves. We employ ultrasound imaging to guide the catheter through the treatment site. Ultrasound imaging also helps us verify that the vein has been totally closed.
Why We Love the Venefit Procedure
One reason: With the Venefit procedure, there’s no need to surgically remove the diseased vein. Another reason: Although many studies have been conducted on the various forms of endovenous treatment, Venefit leads the pack with the most solid and significant amount of clinical data. Because of the numerous published results on this procedure, you can rest assured knowing that you will benefit from this proven, minimally invasive treatment. Benefits to you:
- Everything done in a procedural room
- Local anesthesia only needed
- No cuts, stitches
- No need to remove the vein — the body will absorb it
- Minimal pain or discomfort
